Book haul #3

So here's a little book haul.(You can see previous book hauls on the Book Hauls page).
First of all, I didn't go out to buy any books..but I just bumped in to them, it happens.

I wasn't even in a bookstore, but there they were. A box of all four Twilight books in paperback. I don't own them yet. I have them on my e-reader, but I don't own any 'real' copies.
The price used to be 44,99 euros, but in sale they were only 14,99!!
Well I simply couldn't resist that offer so I bought the box set, and I'm so happy with it!!

The box already has a nice place on my bookshelf, between the vampire academy series and some Nicholas Sparks books.

What's the last book you've bought? Let me know in the comments!

Fifty Shades of Grey #1

Title: Fifty Shades of Grey
Author:E.L.James
Series: First book in the trilogy of the Fifty Shades series
Pages:(dutch edition) 526

After a long time not wanting to read this book, I finally caved.
I want to know why this is such a hype and all these women love this so much.  It is a best-seller in numerous countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

The book is intended for mature audiences, so don't read it unless your an adult ;)

The synopsis
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Expectations
I didn't expect anything from this book to be honest. The only thing I had was that I hoped it wouldn't be violent, because I don't like that at all. I never read a book like this before, so i don't really know what to expect.

Review
So, fifty shades of grey..it's a very interesting story. Ana is a pretty insecure women when it comes to sex, never had a relationship or any experience at all. When she meets Christian Grey she's blown away by this good-looking and charming man.  She thinks a lot about the question: how can someone like  HIM even like me?  I think that's a question many can relate to in some stage of life. It gives the book a realistic feel.

The story shows how someone can be mesmerized by another and goes beyond her own ways of thinking and acting. Ana experiences a lot of different emotions and it's a bit like a roller-coaster.
I like Ana's personality. She likes to make her own decisions and she's not afraid to tell what's on her mind. When she's with Christian she becomes a different girl, which is also realistic and can happen when you fall in love.
I also liked how the plot developed and the connection that Ana and Christian have got more and more complicated along the way. I can't say anything specific cause then I'll spoil some of it and I don't want to do that!

I liked reading this story, and it grabs you. I read it pretty fast, once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. That's always a good sign :)

I'm gonna rate Fifty Shades of grey with:

Have you read this book? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments below!

A little haul #1

I went to the bookstore today, o how I love that place.
Unfortunately I have a tiny bookstore in my hometown, so they often don't have the books I'm looking for. I need to go to the bigger malls to get the books I want.
But...this time they had a couple I liked, and some really cheap ones.
So of course I couldn't resist.
I only bought 3 books, so it's not going to be a big haul( more a tiny one).

The first books I bought were the  5th and 6th books in the House of Night series.
I read the first four books, and like it so far. The story gets more and more interesting when you read more books in the series. I did a review on the first four books, to read those, click here.

So I bought:

And last but not least, I finally bought City of Bones!! So happy :) I saw it on the shelf in the store and it was only 5 euros!! Normally a book is between 10-17 euros so I'm very happy with that :)
This is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series written by Cassandra Clare.

I'm really curious about all three books, especially City of Bones.

Did you bought any books recently? Which books did you buy and why did you choose them? Let me know!

11 questions from Avanti
1. What are you currently reading & why did you choose that book?
I just started to read  Fifty shades of grey by E.L.James. I wasn't interested in this book for a long time, but when my friends all started to read it, I couldn't be the ONLY one who hasn't. And I really want to know where the hype is all about.

2. Why do you love reading so much?
I like the feeling I get when I get sucked into a story and the 'real world' disappears. It makes me feel a bit like being in the story myself, looking in from the outside.

3. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I wanted to share my thoughts about the books I read. I really like the book community and the kind ways we all communicate with each other. It's such a nice platform to talk about books :)

4. If you could be any character for a day, who would it be?
Oh, that's a hard question. I think I would love to live in the magical world of Harry Potter. I guess I would like to be any character, just to walk into the castle and do all the things they get to experience, that would be so nice!! Maybe I want to be Hermione, because she rocks :)

5. When you finish a book do you keep it or pass it on?
Most of the time I keep a book, but if I really like it, I try to convince my friends to read it as well, and I have no problem with lending a book to one of my friends. In fact, when I read the Hunger Games, I told EVERYONE  who listened to me they needed to read the book and they could borrow it from me.

6.Favorite movie & why?
Hmm..my favorite movie.. I think I can't just pick one.. I thought the Hunger games movie was really good, I love all the Harry Potter movies( obviously) and I also love the Lord of the ring movies. I guess it's okay if I say all of those? The hunger games movie stayed really close to the book and I loved the feeling of the film. The Harry Potter movies, well, do I need to explain why? It's this wonderful, magical world and I love fantasy. The same arguments goes for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Love the fantasy!

7. Favorite book to movie adaptation?
It's gotta be the Hunger games adaptations, probably because I watched it recently so it's still fresh in my memory.

8. What type of music do you like?
I like R & B, soul and house music. So a little bit of everything. I like artists as Alicia keys, Wil I am,  Enrique Iglesias, Jesse J and more I can not think of right now.

9. Where's your favorite place to read?
I love to read in bed, in the morning or in the evening. Nice and warm, with my little nightlight on and my cat sleeping next to me :)

10. Favorite hobby besides reading?
I love to draw, play the piano, watch tv series or movies and dining with friends.

11. If you could go anywhere right now, where would you go?
I would love to see more of the world. Right now I only visited counties in Europe, but I would definitely  want to visit the US someday. I also love to visit somewhere tropical like Hawaii.

11 questions for the nominated blogs:
1. When did you start blogging & why?
2. What's your favorite book ever?
3. Do you study or work & what kind of study/work do you do?
4. Do you have any brothers or sisters?

6. Do you always buy books or do you go to the library or borrow from a friend?
7. Where's your favorite place to read?

A-Z Title reading challenge

For the last couple of years I haven't been able to read very much. Well, I needed to read, but those were only educational-related. This year I'll graduate as a teacher. I decided this is the year I'm gonna read more. I always want to, but I never do!

I started this a couple of months ago, I started reading at night, in the morning and loving it as much as I did when I was a kid. In my teens I read the Harry Potter series about 4 times. I loved it so much and I still do.

I want to read more series and some stand alone books as well. As you will see, I have a varied choice of books. I like to read some classics too, and I wanna see where the fuss is all about with the fitfy shades of grey series. At the beginning of 2013 I set my goal to read on 15 books.
But then i saw this challenge on a goodreads group I'm a member of,  and I thought It would be a nice way of challenging myself to read more.
